Superman Returns

I saw Superman Returns this evening with my friend Jason. From all of the reviews beforehand, I was sure I would be struck by tons of mistakes and bad decisions in filmmaking with this movie, but all I could think after it was over was how good a movie this was, how much I enjoyed it, and how much it actually succeeded in achieving its sole purpose: Entertainment. The first big scene with Superman is freaking huge and it practically blew me away. Unlike other superhero movies, this scene even gave me the feeling that he might not succeed, even though you know it's Superman and he has to succeed; it was that powerful a scene and so over the top that only one superhero could ever pull it off. Fortunately, it was the right superhero for the moment.

I really enjoyed this movie. I haven't seen all that many great movies in a long time, so I was pleasantly overjoyed at this one.
