The whole housing thing never seems to end

Yesterday, I called to verify that my housing at UOP is settled, and I got one of those student workers on the phone who really shouldn't ever be in a job talking to other humans. He told me: "They haven't made any decisions on placements yet, probably Friday, and I'm not really sure you have a place."

Well, let's just say that immediately put my day into a tailspin that even Superman returning couldn't stop. Later last night, I called back to housing, and I was told that yes, I was assigned to an apartment, #8, supposedly, and I should be getting more information. I kind of got the idea that getting actual, substantial information, is still going to be an evasive process, as have most things so far with UOP, but for now I guess I have an apartment. For the moment....

I'm really tired of Michigan. I so want to be gone.

I got yet another message from the government investigator position job I'm waiting on the background investigation for. For some reason, they can never seem to start the investigation because yet another thing is missing, even if it has been faxed to them four or five times already. Last night, I received an order (yes, an ORDER) from them to get an immediate drug screening, which I ended up having to do today after work. I guess they're under the impression that people don't actually have real jobs during the regular day and they can just drop everything and get lab work done at a moment's notice. I think the next complication is going to cause me to go tell them where they can deposit it, if you know what I mean.

I managed to pack one box yesterday of books. Oh god I have so much to do. It's not even funny. And I can't even figure out where to begin.

My last day at work is August 17th, although I sure wish I could just say "Friday's it for me" and start spending the rest of my time getting ready to leave.
